Applications for the Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary 2009/2010 are now closed and the bursary has been awarded to the artist, Aaron Williamson.

Aaron's residency will take place at Spike Island during Spring 2010.

News of the Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary 2010/2011 will be announced on this website when it is available.

Who can apply?

Each year, you can apply if you can say yes to all of the following:

  • Are you disabled or deaf visual artist?
  • Are you based in the UK?
  • Have you been making and showing work for over five years?
  • Are you currently engaged in your practice?
  • Can you show evidence of a body of work?

Applications are welcomed both from artists who work within a disability or deaf arts context, and from those whose practice is unrelated to the experience of being a disabled or deaf person.

Applications can be made by individuals or those who work in collaboration or in groups.

The bursary is not open to people in full-time education.

How do I apply?

  1. A written/audio or filmed submission about you, your work and what you intend to do with the bursary (no more than 1,000 words / 10 minutes).
  2. A CV/Biography
  3. Contact details for two referees who have agreed to give a professional opinion of your work.
  4. Details of any specific costs in your bursary proposal (for example the cost of a piece of equipment).
  5. Two forms of support materials/documentation from the following list:
  • Images or 35mm slides (maximum of 10)
  • DVD or video (we can watch a maximum of 10 minutes)
  • CD-ROM
  • Website address

How will the artist be chosen?

Applications will be shortlisted and the final selection made by a panel which will include members of Shape, the residency venue and the Adam Reynolds Memorial Bursary Steering Group.

We will notify all applicants of our decision, and are happy to provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
